Six Senses Belize
A private island off Ambergris Caye, and one of the most ambitious resorts ever undertaken in Belize.
The project
Six Senses Belize occupies a private ten-acre island a mile and a half off the west coast of Ambergris Caye, inside the shelter of the Belize Barrier Reef. The program is 40 overwater villas reaching out across the flats, 16 island residences set into the interior, and the full public complement of a five-star resort: two restaurants, a spa, and the arrival and amenity buildings that anchor them. A separate back-of-house campus on Ambergris Caye carries the commissary, housekeeping, and staff housing that keep an island resort running.
It is the kind of project the Caribbean has largely ceded to the Maldives. Overwater construction, a site reachable only by boat, a brand with exacting standards, and a capital stack that has to satisfy institutional lenders. Every one of those is a discipline in itself, and they all have to work at once.
Aventra's role
Aventra serves as development advisor to the ownership group, engaged as the project moves from early works into its principal construction program and its next stage of financing. The work is strategic rather than transactional: structuring risk and insurance to a standard institutional lenders will underwrite, testing contracting and delivery strategy, evaluating surety and counterparty exposure across an international vendor base, and bringing to bear the specialist relationships, from global brokers to Caribbean contractors, that a project of this profile requires.
It reflects how Aventra works best. Not another layer of management, but a principal-level counterpart to the owner on the decisions that carry the most consequence.
